Flowers for me
Last night I managed to tidy up my whole office (I know most of you who know me think that my office was clean and organized!) because there were so many new items and such that needed to grouped, placed and put away. So I did that. And finished up around 1:00 am. Still had troubles sleeping even after organizing. Usually that feels really good. Like a good ahhhhhh or a deep breath. Or a good sigh, or like after a good cry. Just lately there has just been too many things on my mind. Like life with the business of six kids, a sick FIL a sad MIL and all of that jazz. And, dirty toilets, and dirty walls. The house felt like it needed some TLC. So it got it...feels good now. I did eventually fall asleep. And when Courtney decided to wake up at 3:45 am made me just a bit on the sleep deprived. Thankfully a quick feed and we both fell asleep. Only to be awoken by the alarm clock just after six this morning. After a quick shower I was refreshed and ready to start the day.
I had a bit of an issue with my three year old this morning in the van. You know when kids scream and cry at the top of their lungs so that the whole world can hear them?! Well, yes. My darling Catie decided to do that at school with the van door open in the school parking lot. Allowing all of the moms to hear her LOVELY voice. Oh, and did they hear it. Oh boy. I got some sympathetic glances and nods. I just shut the van door on her after I talked to her about the incident. (being she threw her treat gummies--two of them because she wanted the whole package.) I split up a package of fruit gummies between the three girls. She was not happy about sharing with Caroline and Carly. But she settled in after I found one of them and gave it back to her after she settled. The other gummy is MIA. I am sure Caroline will find it and eat it next time she is in the van :D
That was one of those embarrassing don't want your friends and family to see kind of moments LOL. Well, at least they all know my life is pretty real and just like everybody else. Just the fact that when they all scream at the top of their lungs it is VERY loud...LOL. Louder than any of you out there reading this would care to hear! Bring earplugs! And a sense of humour.
Humour is needed in times like these!

I am not a rookie mom...but
www.rookiemomssurvivalguide.wordpress.com
Here is a copy of the email I received:
Hello all,
As some of you may know, a friend and I are on a mission to get our parenting book published (yes STILL - apparently these things take a lot of time and perseverance). So, the latest advice we received from various publishers is to set up a website about the book to prove to an agent/publisher that there is interest in our subject matter - oh, the power of the Web! So, here is our website http://rookiemomssurvivalguide.wordpress.com and we'd like to ask you all please, please, please, to go and take a look, to give us a hit - the goal is 10,000! We have 4-5 topics for discussion initially on our blog and will be adding two more every couple of weeks.
So, really, our ask of you is if you is twofold;
1) Within the website can you please add a post about your experiences on being a mommy or a funny story about another mommy (and as a good friend of mine always says, 'never let the truth get in the way of a good story'). If you can add us to your favourites and check in periodically, even better.
2) Also, to help us out further, can I ask you to forward the site to your friends, family or anyone who might be interested, to help build our network and achieve our goal. Not only that, if you forward this email to 10 friends you are guaranteed to receive good luck and happiness for many weeks to come. If you somehow forget to forward it, or 'Gasp' delete it! You will undoubtably be plagued by 7 years bad luck, locusts and possibly experience a meteor strike....nobody wants that now do they. We hope that the interest that we receive on our website will prove to Publishers that they would be crazy not to publish our book. Once that happens we will be sure to let you all know where you can pick up a copy!
Thanks so much, Erica

From Granny (via email tonight)
By the time the Lord made woman,
He was into his sixth day of working overtime.
An angel appeared and said,
'Why are you spending so much time on this one?'
And the Lord answered, 'Have you seen my spec sheet on her?
She has to be completely washable, but not plastic,
have over 200 movable parts, all replaceable
and able to run on diet coke and leftovers,
have a lap that can hold four children at one time,
have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart
-and she will do everything
with only two hands.'
The angel was astounded at the requirements.
'Only two hands!? No way!
And that's just on the standard model?
That's too much work for one day.
Wait until tomorrow to finish.'
' But I won't, ' the Lord protested.
'I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to my own heart.
She already heals herself when she is sick
AND can work 18 hour days.'
The angel moved closer and touched the woman.
'But you have made her so soft, Lord.'
'She is soft,' the Lord agreed,
'but I have also made her tough.
You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish.'
'Will she be able to think?', asked the angel.
The Lord replied,
'Not only will she be able to think,
she will be able to reason and negotiate.'
The angel then noticed something,
and reaching out, touched the woman's cheek.
'Oops, it looks like you have a leak in this model.
I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one.'
'That's not a leak,'
the Lord corrected,
'that's a tear!'
'What's the tear for?' the angel asked.
The Lord said, 'The tear is her way of expressing her joy,
her sorrow, her pain, her disappointment, her love,
her loneliness, her grief and her pride.'
The angel was impressed.
'You are a genius, Lord.
You thought of everything!
Woman is truly amazing.'
And she is!
Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness,
love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.
They don't take 'no' for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about
a birth or a wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,
yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss
can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you
to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
They have compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have vital things to say and everything to give
HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE TINY FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.
PLEASE pass this along to your women friends and relatives
to remind them just how much they mean to you.

I am never
NEVER AGAIN...two by two next time. I needed back up...
It was a crazy day
A bum rash that requires quite a bit of cream
Seemed that all of the diaper changes today were doubled up with both girls needing changes at the same time, and of course RIGHT before having to leave to do drop offs or pick ups!
We had one scraped ankle, that required a bandaid
One cup of water spilled into the keyboard today (good opportunity to clean it out!)
Water spill on OF COURSE a soft covered chair!!
Yogurt lid wrappers stuck to the tile floor in the kitchen
One forgotten library book on the playground that required a second trip back to the school to find it!
One set of hair rollers in and then out! (Velcro for my divas LOL) 'Can't wear rollers to school Mom!' OK then! LOL
Watching my son CLIMB onto a big net on the school ground (can you say heart attack!!!)
A bumped knee on the trampoline
And get this...THE KICKER: I was called 'mean' this morning by one of my daughters...am I mean? Oh the fun begins having all of these girls in the house LOL! (this was not to my face, but yet tattled to me by another daughter LOL!)

Did YOU know...DYK?
I still wear retainers?
I have broken the same finger twice in two different places?
I have had purple hair before?
I had my gallbladder removed after my third child was born?
I am the only one in MY family that has blue eyes?

Six Months Tomorrow!
Love Thursday
Look way up...way way up!
Where did the week go?
I have been slowly purging stuff from every room. I switched out the winter clothes to spring and summer. I have organized my calendar for the next month, I actually got the toy cabinet (extra stuff) and the craft cabinet in the laundry room is 100 percent better! I feel really happy about that. (see I can shut down the organizing blog, but you cannot stop me from organizing LOL) I have a bag of clothing for drop offs to charity etc. Feels great. I think I am still 'One Organized Chick' but I had to let that go for a bit with having another newborn in the house. But, as Courtney grows, the easier it is for me now that she is consistantly sleeping through the night. Oh yeah! Oh yes!! Usually from 9 pm to atleast 7 am or later! That means more 'free time' for Cliff and I in the evenings and we finally have a baby free bed since getting the crib assembled and into the little girls' room. I love it! Life is good!
Next will be getting the family room stuff organized, but that will take a trip to IKEA. I am excited to FINALLY come up with a solution for the kids' school stuff. My answer to be revealed later, and I will take a photo of it! This room is finally going to come together. I have found it takes time to 'live' in a new place and 'feel' it and then make decisions on all facets of the home. From decorating to organizing. I will be glad to get things finally feeling 'settled.' I still want to paint, but that won't happen any time soon.
Monday, I got out for a long run by myself. Went for about 10K. It was nice and relaxing, Tuesday I got out for a coffee (or two) at the local Starbucks with my awesome cuz Andrea. We had a great visit, and just nice to catch up after 2 years (and we live in the same town - our bad LOL) But, when we get together it is like no time has passed. I love that about family.
Wednesday was yesterday. We had our nachos, poppyseed loaf cake AND chocolate and FINALLY watched some American Idol. That was nice.
And that then it is today. It is already Thursday and I have had a busy week. It feels as if the sun will never shine AGAIN...the weather-person keeps saying 30 degree weather for the next three days. I am not sure this will happen. It feels like March weather still, and I am not loving that. As I am typing this, the sun is brightening up my monitor, the kids are playing in the yard and one is napping. It is all good. Tonight I am going to head out with my Mom (in-law) for dinner and some shopping. Looking forward to that.
Then, tomorrow. Our baby Courtney will be six months old. She is ready to start rice cereal, and so I guess on the long weekend we will try! Tomorrow night, out for dinner with friends!
Then, lots of activity over the weekend, and if the weather is good. A parade on Monday!
We have a LONG weekend coming up, but they go too fast. I am just happy that all eight of us can be together and enjoy each other. That is a good thing! That is what family is all about!

from Mothers Day - a snapshot (snapshots!!)
oh, the puke bucket that saw A LOT of action this past weekend and AGAIN today!
A few of my gifts. Motherhood magnets for poetry on the fridge, really fun postcards about motherhood! And, a lime that Cameron found in the fruit container that had a bruise in the shape of a heart!! Isn't nature beautiful! And a stack of magazines to read when I want to!
A Daddy that holds babies is GOOD!
A hand painted dish, and soap from Claire on the left (of course done in my fave colour!) And, on the right a card from all the kids.
from Claire (this is Cliff and I)

I had a great day. After nice night out last night for our 10th anniversary, and this morning I got up and went for a run, which turned into more of a long walk in the rain and wind. And then home and a drive for bagels, treats for the kids. A new jacket for me! A trip to the nursery to get plants for our garden. Ice cream, shopping, and then take out Chinese food. It was a great day. I had a beautiful day with my kids and I was so pleased to have gorgeous sunshine this evening!
Happy Mothers Day!
Mothers Day 2008 - Once a Year!
The kids getting ready to give me my presents and gifts for Mothers Day!
Our last baby Courtney, and the wonderful man who made this all possible :D
Well, the surprise was that he made my breakfast before I got up. My Kashi (portion controlled 1 cup LOL) 3 breakfast sausages, and my low cal, high fibre grain bread with natural peanut butter!

Mothers Day - Hey a day just for me?!
Anyways! It is first thing in the morning of Mothers Day. I am tired after a night out with my hubby. But, I wanted to wish all of the Mom's and soon to be Mom's a happy Mothers Day today. I hope you all enjoy your day doing whatever the heck you want to do! (but that never seems to happen does it?!) Oh well. We found some neat motherhood magnetic poetry that I am excited to try out on the fridge, and some really funny postcards! I will have to scan and share! I am going to scan them and post them when I am having 'a day!!' they are really funny! I was cracking up in Wendels tonight! Just laughing my head off! Perhaps it was the bellini or two I had at Milestones?
I know our kids are REALLY excited about tomorrow. I know the three big kids have gifts waiting for me for tomorrow morning. I am excited to see their treasures they have created at school. I am excited to get kisses and hugs from six treasures in my life.
I told Cliff tonight that I am going to have a room just for all of the little treasures I will receive each year!
My wish for all of you is to enjoy your day, and hopefully take a bit of time to do something just for you! And for all of the new Moms out there! Hold those babies tight and kiss them OFTEN! They grow up WAY TOOOOO fast.
I am HOPING to get out for a run tomorrow morning (well in about 8 hours really) but I will have to see what the morning has in store for me. I need to burn off the goodies I had tonight! Delish!
Happy Mothers Day!

anniversary [10] one decade later
Just moments before 3:00 when I was still in my 20's, still had my "maiden name" and a convertible 'Del Sol' that was bright red and only seated two...a seat for me, and a seat for Cliff.
***
Apparently TIN is the 10 year anniversary gift as told to me by Cliff. He wrote a nice card, and got me a tin of yellow lemons drops. Very significant to those who know and love us. My engagement ring came to me in a bowl of lemons way back in April 1997. We had yellow as our wedding colour. I thought that was a nice touch and he has earned some 'points' today LOL.
My parents also popped over and brought us some beautiful flowers, 2 bottles of 'our' ice wine that were part of our wedding favours, and our wedding almonds. Nice! And, my Mom in Law brought me a couple of sprigs of Lilly of the Valley from the original place where we got married...those travelled with us to our new place here. So special. How thoughtful.
So, here we are ten years later, six kids. Rich in life, rich in love. Rich in blessings. Love is all around us today, and has been with us for the past 1o or more years together.
Let me say we are so rich in so many ways.
Happy Anniversary dear Cliff. I see the next years to be more about health, than sickness and I just know we are going to have MANY wonderful years ahead!
Happy Anniversary to us! Happy Anniversary to us!
Love you,
Cathy xo
So much throw up
I never would have imagined 10 years ago we would be cleaning up throw up from two of six kids!
Not really the kind of anniversary present I was expecting! Well, time for bed.
I hope Caroline and Catie stop throwing up. I hate to see them sick!

Wednesday was a busy one...
Claire's ear is totally healed from the perforated ear drum incident about two weeks ago! Yay for healing.
Caroline took the shots well, and got her treat.
Courtney, she has a big 'coconut' and is in the 95th percentile for her noggin! So I think we named her right! And, she was 17 1/2 pounds! Yay for good nursing sessions! I know she is not starving LOL! Time to start solids soon! I cannot believe we are getting to that point already.
When we got home, my Dad was outside the house with the other girls and boy who didn't have appointments. And imagine to my surprise to come home and see Carly and Claire drive without their training wheels! It was so exciting! To see them do that all on their own! Yay for the girls! Even Grandpa came out in the wheelchair, and Nonna and Nannie to cheer them on! It was a lovely moment! Our big girls! Nannie took some photos of the family today, and the girls' riding without their trainers! So, we cannot wait to see those photos!
Then, it was dinner, bed, bath, teeth and reading. The usual night routine, but our sweet Caroline threw up three times?! We are not sure why, but oh dear. Not so fun. And Courtney was non stop feeding machine. Must be a 6 month growth spurt!! Combined with teething action.
And, thanks to my cousin Andrea/Kirby/Matthew for bringing the cool 'Rock n' Bounce' for Courtney to borrow! She is loving it! Thank you for saving my arms during the day :D

The last time...
Updates, git yer updates...
I was tagged by Alyson, and I tagged six of my bloggy friends! So, go have a look! I have added Caroline's birthday photos, and I have added a shot of my Granny's green dress.
I also am working on a couple of more posts! Stay tuned...
Enjoy!
From Caroline's 2nd Birthday
And now, we return you to your regularly scheduled program...
Courtney is FINALLY getting into her crib at a regular time, with very little to no crying when she goes in there. She as you know, shares a room with her two big sisters Catie and Caroline. They are so cute in their room all lined up in a row! Last night, well Courtney went down a bit later, but on the whole she is getting down to bed (without breastfeeding her to sleep) around 9 pm consistantly for the past week. But last night was closer to 11 pm. But, I am thinking she is about to start her six month growth spurt. So, I forgive her ;D
Things are moving ahead in the right direction and I am starting to get some sanity back which feels really amazing. I have had enough sleep deprived 'mommy brain' for the past 8+ years of motherhood. I am ready for things to move on and move forward.
Time like this remind me that things will get easier, or maybe just my challenges will be different. I am ready for different. I think.
I feel like I am returning to myself. I am returning to my regularly scheduled program. And wow, that feels good!

Caroline's Birthday {two}
She continues to be our sweet girl. She is very entertaining, makes us laugh, talks A LOT, she is LOUD, she is polite and she uses her manners! She dances, she hops and she gives us the biggest smiles. The smiles show off her beautiful dimple and then her big brown eyes sparkle. A little dream girl she is!
And yes, she is entering the 'terrible two's' but so what...we know she will grow out of them (EVENTUALLY) and until then we just enjoy her as she grows up to be an independent responsible girl! And we try to laugh (secretly) at the not so fun parts of the 2 year. Laughter seems to be the best medicine, especially after our fifth crack at the two's! We don't think it has become easier to have a two year old in the home, but we have figured out how to 'enjoy' this phase rather than fight it! We praise the good, and try our HARDEST to ignore the not so good! But sometimes those tantrums and dramatics can be pretty funny. So funny that we have to walk away and laugh.
So Caroline, our sweet little daughter. You light up our lives, and you are the apple of our eye! May you have a year that is most terrific and we cannot wait to have a piece of pink cake with you!
We love you little Caroline. Stay little and keep on patting our back and hugging us OK! We will never tire of the love you give us all. You are super!

6 Things
I've been tagged by Alyson
The meme topic is to share six unimportant things about myself and then to tag six other people to do the same thing.
Here are the rules:
1. Link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post these rules on your blog.
3. Share six unimportant things about yourself.
4. Tag six random people at the end of your entry
So...Here is 6 things you probably did not need to know about me.
1) I am left handed
2) I am quite the klutz, and I have been known to fall down the stairs, or trip and fall.
3) I would consider getting a breast lift/implants with a tummy tuck if I need to when all of my weight is off
4) I always thought that I would have 3 boys
5) I thought babies would stay little longer, until I had my own kids and they grew up so quickly
6) I haven't stayed friends with anybody from high school.
O.K...now I am TAGGING 6 PEOPLE.
