Helen says it's OKAY to have one - "all-purpose drawer" (ie. junk drawer!). I feel better now. haha

Jerusha...I just use a damp cloth and wash up. I have that same problem with my IKEA chalboard. This one we use Benjamin Moore chalboard paint in black.
Have you tried water? Good luck!! Let me know.
